The Olympus IX71 has a two tiered multiport design with a V-shaped optical path.  The nine access ports allow for multiple input or output devices.  Up to four ports can have access to a primary image.  Fluorescence, DIC, phase contrast and Olympus relief contrast modes are available.  Our microscope is configured for two photon and/or confocal imaging and for fluctuation spectroscopy.
Connected in the left port is a low noise photomultiplier tube and the right port the iXon imaging camera.  In the center of the picture, above the objectives, is the motorized XYZ stage.
