Eventually, the instructor notes for each chapter will include: learning objectives, suggested activities, elaboration on further explorations, suggested answers for the questions, and more references. For now, these pages contain notes to myself, observations about the material, and to-do lists. I welcome suggestions from beta testers: please email me at rwytten@emory.edu (Bob Wyttenbach).
For aftereffect, speed is set in terms of cycles per second, i.e. the number of times per second an edge moves past a point. To convert that to edge velocity, multiply stripe width (°/cycle) by speed (cycles/s) to get ° visual angle per second. Students may wonder which is more perceptually relevant to determining the aftereffect. Both probably matter. Students can use PsyCog to test this for themselves.
