Education and Employment:I received my Ph. D. from Washington University in St. Louis, in 1993 for research on New Perturbative Techniques, working with Prof. Carl M. Bender. Before that, I had obtained a Diplom degree from Kiel University in Germany. From 1993 to 1998 I held postdoctoral positions at Brookhaven National Laboratory, University of Oklahoma, and as a Director's Fellow at the Center for Nonlinear Studies (CNLS) at Los Alamos National Laboratory. I joined the Department of Physics at Emory University in 1998 as a lecturer and since 2003 on a professorship. I have received visiting professorships from Fulbright in Germany for 2009-2010, from the Villum Foundation in Denmark for 2014-2015, and from Ciencia Sem Fronteiras in Brazil for 2014-2017. In 2018, I was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) and I was awarded the Fulbright-FACEPE Distinguished Chair at UFPE in Pernambuco (Brazil). |
